Roxana Molina has always believed that hard work and determination can get you where you want to be in life. And so far, she’s never been wrong.
After leaving El Salvador and arriving in America in 2016, her first years in the United States were filled with language barriers and taking the low-paying jobs that were typically all that was available to people with limited English-speaking abilities. That’s when Roxana began to think about starting her own business.
She had worked a lot of construction jobs in her early years in the U.S. and vividly recalls catching sight of herself in a reflective window as she pushed a heavy wheelbarrow full of rocks past.
Sweating, out of breath, and hungry, she asked herself if this was all there was for her in her new country, the supposed land of opportunity. Her strong faith in God kept her going, and she felt He had more planned for her than pushing wheelbarrows full of rocks on a hot day.
Roxana was let go from her position when the pandemic hit, along with many others in the public workspace. She took it as a sign that it was time to put her determination and business acumen to work. Despite many people in her life worrying about her future and telling her she couldn’t do it, she started her cleaning business, Sisters General Service.
“I came here with a suitcase full of dreams and knew I wanted to start something new.”
Roxana found that keeping things clean and tidy and cultivating relationships with happy, satisfied customers transcends language. She and her son started her cleaning business in 2019 and immediately found clients willing to work with her as she learns a new language and runs a business.
Her clientele found her services so valuable and her work ethic so inspiring that they have been happy to work through the language and comprehension issues to do business with her, enforcing her belief that hard work and determination can overcome many hurdles and help us realize our dreams.
Creating opportunities in her community
Roxana’s favorite part of being an American business owner is being able to put others like her to work – single moms and hard-working women who may have trouble finding dependable employment because of a lack of skill, opportunity, or other barriers.
She teaches the women who come to work for her about the value of hard work and how satisfying it can be to do things for yourself. Every person who joins her team is treated like family and is given the opportunity to learn business and life basics during their time there.
“Helping others put food on their table and pay their bills is a blessing.”
The challenge was learning to run a business in a new country and accessing the finances necessary to get it off the ground. Roxana turned to Life Asset, which has been instrumental in her business since she gained her first client.
Her work gets people talking. In a few short years, her business has garnered thousands of clients who all tout her “quality of quickness” motto. She teaches her employees to respect their clientele as their own families and to give their homes the same care and attention to detail.
Roxana isn’t simply cleaning houses. She and her team clean, organize, arrange, and teach their clients how to live in a cleaner, more efficient home, and it’s changing lives.
“Life Asset helps you be more of who you really are and to share that with the world.”
Roxana used Life Asset to grow her company from just herself and her son to a nine-employee business. They clean more than just residential homes now, too. Sisters General Services also cleans rentals, businesses, and office spaces in the Virginia area.
Learning along the way
One of Roxana’s favorite things about working with Life Asset is how easily she was able to integrate her own values and goals into the programs they offered. Roxana always taught her children that living a productive and happy life means working at something you love with a passion that no one else can offer. Life Asset allowed her to continue those teachings with her children and the employees she has hired to help her on her journey.
Learning how to run a business in a new country is challenging at best. Taxes, permits, and licensing are serious matters that deserve serious attention, even if you have to get some help to understand all the intricacies. Hiring the right support makes all the difference, and it starts with an experienced mentor.
Full speed ahead to success
Life Asset has helped Roxana expand her business, and there’s more for her and her team on the horizon. She has no plans of slowing down and is excited about what the future has in store.
She still plans to help women in her community feed their families and build their self-confidence, and with the help of Life Asset, they all have a lot to look forward to.
